For me, the figurative abstraction process is more than the interaction with the materiality of color. Together with the actual painting process, this also includes a spiritual component. Some of my figurative paintings were inspired by a studio-based human model. When the focus is separated from reality and is on what’s most important, in these paintings appear abstract amazing scenes. Other works have been painted by use of a non-representational approach. As a result of my interaction with color, texture and canvas structures, figurative elements start to emerge. Depending on my intention, I either pick them up in the next phase or skip them again. This technique leads me to complex, multi-level paintings. These paintings offer the viewers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the painting. The viewers can let their imaginations run free, enjoy color and form and always discover something new in the paintings.
